  3. It is recommended that a diabetic person should eat right and consume balanced diet in order to control diabetes. This depends on the stage of diabetes, blood sugar, blood pressure etc. It is also advisable to eat as per schedule every day and not to skip any meal. This is essential to maintain consistency in blood sugar levels.
  4. Avoid eating something which is not in the diabetic diet plan which can lead to disturbance in blood sugar level. Prevent getting tempted by occasions such as birthday parties, wedding, picnics etc. where there is likelihood of going on binge eating. This can set back diabetic diet plan by many weeks and you need to start from scratch again nullifying all the efforts. So, control yourself and prepare for such occasions by planning in advance what to eat and what to avoid.

After following diabetic diet religiously, a pattern is created in eating habit, time and regularity and this makes a huge difference in life of a diabetic. With regular exercise and balanced diet it becomes a routine to control blood sugar level and enjoy life without even realizing that a person is suffering from diabetes.

Though there are numerous diet plans for diabetic patients, some are more popular. One such plan is plate method wherein a dinner plate is divided into various food types that ought to be consumed by a diabetic. Vegetables cover half of the plate for lunch and dinner. The remainder of the plate is divided among starchy foods like grains, bread, potatoes and a food from meat group. This is then followed by fruits and milk outside the plate.

Another famous diet plan for diabetic patient is Carbohydrate Counting. This involves keeping count of carbs consumed by eating various foods throughout the day which reflects blood glucose levels.
